One of my favourite tea house – Teakha

I’ve always love the neighbourhood of my office. It’s a very unique environment filled with small cafes, studios and home decor shops.

I’ve always wanted to find a nice cafe, or should say tea house as i am still favouring tea over coffee most of the time. And i’ve finally found one that i really like:

-t-e-a-k-h-a- :: Home of Tea

The tea house is half outdoor with parking space (haha, wish the cooper is mine!)

Decor is simple and crafty:

Not a lot of choice on food & drinks, as it’s managed by a pretty young lady whole loves making cakes & tea. Most of the stuff is “xxx” of the day, so just depends on what the lady purchased on that day:

Let’s have a look at the small yet chic open kitchen:

Nice copper pan for cooking herbal milk tea:

I love the traditional water bottles and tea bottles on the racks:

Ops, forgot to mentioned, i went there for lunch, so i ordered Hojicha & Sandwich of the day:

Sandwich of the day :: avocardo ham with honey mustard & walnut, surprisingly good, probably because of the thick bread from Bologne!

Simple lovely little yellow flowers on table:

Done with light lunch. I love the pattern plate too!!

They also sell take away stuff like scones (ginger & roselle):

Just a friendly reminder, it’s closed on monday & tuesday & it’s quite busy during weekends!

Open Shutter – Michael Wesley’s as a witness of time

Am a bit into photography recently because of work, finally back to using DSLR (350D to 5D ii), it’s been a wonderful experience so far!

So i thought i would like to share with you something that is not so directly related to interior design – photography.

Have you ever do any long exposure photos (night shoots on stars, fireworks etc?) How about setting your shutter speed at a duration of a few years?

Yes, it’s technically not very feasible with normal cameras, but German Photographer Michael Wesley did it with amazing results:

In 2001, while the Museum of Modern Art undergoes a 3 year renovation, Michael set up 4 “custom made” cameras shooting down the work in progress:

Isn’t it amazingly beautiful?

The photo below was taken over almost 14 months at the Leipziger Platz in Berlin – which at the time together with the Potsdamer Platz formed one of the biggest construction sites in the world.

His work’s not limited to construction sites but also interior space like his office:

Interesting place around my office

I’m lucky enough to work for a studio that is situated Ina very interesting area full of galleries n small shops! And of cause home to a lot of designers! So they really did a great job in renovating n decorating their studio n homes!

Just want to share with you this picture I’ve taken the other of the rollers gutter of a studio n with that came the letter box! I love the idea n execution too!

A walk on sunny Sunday afternoon

Free moving to Ap Lei Chau, I haven’t have the chance to visit the furniture outlet nearby, gosh it’s actually just 10 minutes walk from my home! Unbelievably close!

So I’ve just walked there for a short visit n a cup of coffee this afternoon! Only managed to stop by one shop that is the 25000 sqf showroom of TREE.

The Moses Bridge

I am sure the idea of building a bridge over water is not anything new to you, yet i admire how the Ro-Ad architects proposed the new definition of bridge.

The concept reminds me a lot of the story in the bible where moses leads the Israelite cross the red sea where he simply parted the red sea.

Simply beautiful. Yet i am not sure whether there will be some problem when the water level changes?

Zenique Teapot Travel Set

In the new year of 2012, i finally get to have a few days off my work and get to travel a bit. It’s been a real relaxing trip, traveling to forest & country side for a bit of hiking, stayed in glass house homestay etc.

Yet one of the exciting thing about this trip to visiting the tea house Zenique (小茶栽堂) in Taipei.

I will post some photos in another post on the visit but one of the nice thing i got is the teapot set designed by them that was awarded with “iF Product Design Award 2012“.

It’s a clean design with 2 cups that can be stored inside the teapot so you can travel light.

It comes in 5 different texture/colour. I personally l0ve them all!!

So this is the one i finally choose – black with white dot!

See the 2 cup that is of different size inside the teapot? It fits perfectly into 1 thing.

Perfect way to enjoy a sunny afternoon at home, and finally thanks Jim for such a nice present! All filled with memories of Taiwan.

I’ve been hunting for nice teapots and teaware whenever i traveled and i think i’ve collected quite an extensive collection, will share more in this blog in the future!
