Got a weekend off to visit one of the most interesting building in Gaungzhou – The Guangzhou Opera House by Zaha Hadid:
Zaha, the Iraqi-british architect, a name that probably a lot of people are afraid of. To be frank, her buildings are a lot more adorable than her & her “looks”.
So, back to the Opera House, it’s just amazing, even through my not so professional 350d (finally using it again)!
The idea behind the opera house is “2 pieces of stone seperated by the Ju Jiang River”, 1 piece in light grey and another one in darker grey:
One of the best part in this project is Zaha Hadid did such a good job in blending the indoors & the outdoors, yes, landscape architecture!!
On the way to the opera house and theater:
This is where the 2 pieces of stones overlap:
Beautiful interaction!
Lines are very smooth yet provoking!!
It is located right next to (across the Ju Jiang) the Guangzhou TV Tower, another beautiful building!
Let’s go down to the lower level space to have a look:
lovely space with ponds:
none of the column are straight!
Full of triangles:
The interior is even more beautiful than the exterior, and will show you more pictures in the next post!!
